1 hour to the Nation
This idea of
VFABI (Volunteer for a Better India) took off on a grand note in Tirupathi
on the 67th Anniversary of Independence Day. Volunteers - Men, Women, Boys
and Girls were in attractive emblematic T-shirts. After flag hoisting and
pledge we went around areas earmarked. We contacted inmates of houses, institutes,
hostels and also pedestrians and wished everyone a Very Happy Independence
Day. Their response reverberated with patriotic fervor. It was amazing to
see the depths of latent love and reverence, the old and young were holding
for Mother India - of course studded with amusement here and there. The drizzling
monsoon could not deter the spirit of volunteers. It was an awesome experience
making the 67th Independence Day one of the best days in our lives. We saluted
this day with a smug feeling.
